Musee de Rodin et la Tren

So our day started with an early hotel breakfast and a taxi ride to the Musee de Rodin, of which we had gotten a glimpse from Tuesday’s Big Bus ride. We had to make it a pretty quick trip because our hotel checkout is noon, and we really didn’t want to haul our roller bags and full backpacks around the museum with us. It turned out our taxi driver was from Tanzania and spoke Swahili, so we had a good time remembering and singing the old song “Jambo Bwana” which I had learned years ago on my African Safari trip.

The museum was amazing. I had no idea how prolific Rodin was and I’m sure this museum offers only a sampling of his body of work. For those who are interested in seeing more of the photos I took, I have added an extra post (link below) with just photos from this awesome museum. I have to say I enjoyed this museum visit more than I did the d’Orsay

Off to the Tren

As we ride along on train this afternoon, traveling at high speed through the French countryside, all is very relaxed. I’ve seen lots of grazing sheep and old farmhouses. It’s a very fast train, and even though it’s quite long, when another train passes going the other way, it lasts about four seconds.  We are passing wheat fields almost ready to harvest, some beautiful small lakes and a few of those modern windmills.

All aboard the AmaKristina in Lyon

After finally working our way to the ship, I was shown the way to my cabin, explored the various decks, took a few photos to share (below). A captain’s welcome aboard party was followed by a very nice dinner with the Barkmans, former colleagues from my teaching days, and I’ve now retired to my cabin to finish updating these notes.

Exercise Track

The ship leaves the dock tomorrow to go to a small town up (down?) another river, where we will all disembark for our first shore excursion, a trip through some of the nearby wineries and maybe have a few samples. Meanwhile, the ship will return to Lyon where we will rejoin it in time for dinner.

That’s about it for today.

Again, merci for tagging along, and let me know by text if you have any questions.

A Bierto!
