Man, am I tired!
There are many famous museums in Paris, the most famous, of course, being La Louvre, where thousands of visitors flock to see one famous portrait of one famous lady with a slight smile. There is another locally famous museum, however, that’s not known as well internationally. It is located right along the south bank of the Seine in what was once a train station. This museum, though not as well known, is the home of thousands of classic works of art, including many by some of the great impressionist and post-impressionist period painters and some of the most famous sculptures ever created. We spent our morning today at the Musée d’Orsay taking in some of the works of these great artists.
These are but a few examples of original works of art that we were able to see during our museum visit this morning.
Van Gogh
Self portrait, of course
The original Starry, Starry Night
(The later version had very different stars.)
Others
Had a banana split “lunch” at a sidewalk cafe while waiting for the time
to get into the Chapel at St. Chapelle.

Then off on the Metro to see the neighborhood of Montmartre, home of the famous Moulin Rouge nightclub. Located on one of the high hills of Paris, originally a Bohemian village and is now an artists’ conclave with the Sacre Côer Cathedral at the very top.
Time for snacks and a beverage.
Back to the hotel on the Metro and just a neighborhood cafe for a light dinner.
Tomorrow, Thursday, the morning is free, undecided. Then, in the early afternoon, it will be time to check out of our hotel and it’s off to the Gare du Lyon to catch our high-speed train to Lyon, France, in charming Provence, to board our ship, the AmaKristina for our seven-day river cruise.
Merci for continuing to follow the blog.
A Bientôt!
